Aileen Bassis was born in New York City. She creates work in book arts, installation, printmaking and photography about social and political themes. She received a B.A. in Studio Art from SUNY at Binghamton and a M.A. in Creative Art from Hunter College. She received a Fellowship in Photography from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Dodge Foundation Fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, and a grant from the Puffin Foundation. Her work has been widely exhibited including solo shows at Rutgers University and University of Pennsylvania.
