DESIRA PESTA

Desira Pesta is an East Coast bred artist who was raised by two bikers in the woods of PA. She started drawing, painting, writing, reupholstering furniture & sewing at a young age, in lieu of "normal" activities. Desira received a BFA in Painting from Syracuse University & spent six months studying painting, architecture, & printmaking in Italy, where she sold her first works. After college, Desira moved to Brooklyn & worked for Alexander Calder's grandson, as an artist assistant & personal chef. As a self-taught seamstress, she started working as a fashion designer, producing a small line she sold throughout the US, Australia, U.K. & Japan from ‘05 to ‘12. Desira was one of the final 25 possible contestants for Project Runway Seasons 7 & 8 & has been published in the WSJ, Martha Stewart Show, HuffPost & more. After seven years in Brooklyn, she now resides in Jersey City!
