Born in 1954, attended Fordham Prep in the sixties, traveled to France and Spain as part of my early education. I graduated Fordham University in 1974 and attended Parson's school of Design as my interests went from Psychology to Art. I experimented with a variety of ideas until 1987 when I began attending the Art Students League in NYC. My focus was now fully on the means of painting with oil paint. I painted large and small canvases of the Figure, Landscape, and Still life. I tried abstraction and realism and continue to meld the two forms of expression. In 1995 I opened the Igor Trout Art Gallery in New Rochelle, NY with my partner (and as of 1996 my wife) Gail Nicholson. In 1998 we moved to an abandoned factory in Jersey City Heights which I renovated into our home and studio. In 2003 I graduated from NJCU with an MFA and I continue to paint and teach privately.
